These financial literacy lessons and activities will teach your students everything they need to know about understanding their wages, income, and paychecks. Topics include hourly wages, overtime, salaries, commissions, tips, pay stubs, income taxes, and more!

Keep students engaged with a variety of lessons and activities, including Google Slides presentations, guided notes, partner practice, a bingo game, a scavenger hunt, scenario tasks, and more! Also includes a quiz to assess students’ knowledge at the end of the unit.

This bundle includes:

• Understanding Wages – Hourly and Overtime Pay — This lesson includes Google Slides, guided notes for students, and a partner practice activity.
• Understanding Wages – Salaries, Commissions, and Tips — This lesson includes Google Slides, guided notes for students, and a self-checking practice circuit worksheet.
• Calculating Wages Bingo Game — This whole-class bingo game will help students practice their knowledge of hourly pay, overtime, salaries, commissions, and tips. It includes 40 unique bingo cards and 35 questions on Google Slides.
• Comparing Wages Scenario Tasks — Students will complete five scenario tasks, during which they will practice comparing two different job listings or job offers and answer questions about which job might be best.
• Understanding Your Pay Stub Lesson — This lesson uses realistic pay stubs to teach students how to understand their paychecks. Topics include gross vs. net pay, deductions, income taxes, benefits, and more. It includes Google Slides, guided notes for students, and a practice worksheet.
• Pay Stub Scavenger Hunt— This 16-question scavenger hunt requires students to read and interpret pay stubs. Students are provided two realistic sample pay stubs to use as they answer the questions. Topics include locating specific information on a pay stub, deductions, calculating percentages of income withheld for taxes, comparing income between two pay stubs, gross vs. net income, and year-to-date vs. current income. This scavenger hunt is provided in both paper and digital formats.
• BONUS FILE – Wages & Paychecks Quiz – This quiz can be used after completing the lessons to assess students’ knowledge. A paper version and a Google Forms version are both included. Answer key and Bundle Pacing Guide are also included in the Bonus File.
