Description
Hands-on activity using tracing paper! This easy prep, rigid transformations exploration activity will guide students through discovering the coordinate rules for rotating a figure 90 degrees clockwise, 90 degrees counterclockwise, and 180 degrees.
Students will use tracing, wax, or parchment paper to investigate the effects of rotating a figure on its coordinates. The investigation starts with a triangle in the first quadrant and ends with a second figure partially in the second and third quadrants so that students can gain experience working with both positive and negative coordinates.
To complete this activity, each student will need two small squares of transparent paper. Tissue, wax, parchment, and tracing papers all work well.
