Description
Hands-on transformations activity using tracing paper! This easy prep, rigid transformations exploration activity will guide students through discovering the coordinate rules for reflecting a figure across the x and y axis!
Students will use tracing, wax, or parchment paper to investigate the effects of reflecting a figure on its coordinates. They will trace each figure onto the tracing paper and fold along the x and y axes to create a reflection. The investigation starts with a triangle in the first quadrant and ends with a second figure in the fourth quadrant so that students can gain experience working with both positive and negative coordinates.
To complete this activity, each student will need two small squares of transparent paper. Tissue, wax, parchment, and tracing papers all work well.
