Description
These 10 station activities will review geometric transformations, including translations, rotations, reflections, dilations, and sequences of transformations. Tasks include matching, graphing, identifying types of transformations, and more!
Includes 10 station activities, two versions of a recording sheet (one version includes coordinates of the pre-images for students who need extra support or to save time, the other does not), and an answer key.
Topics Included:
- Translations – Translating figures up, down, right, or left
- Rotations – Rotating figures 90° clockwise, 90° counterclockwise, and 180°
- Reflections – Reflecting figures over the x and y axes
- Dilations – Identifying scale factor, enlargements, and reductions
- Sequences of Transformations – Graphing a sequence and matching a description of a sequence to a graph
- Writing an algebraic rule from a description or a description from an algebraic rule
Here are a few ideas for setting up stations in your classroom:
- Hang a copy of each station on the walls around your room. Students can walk from station to station.
- Set up tables and put a few copies of each station card at each table. Students will move from table to table completing stations.
- Not sure you want students up and walking around the room? Set out station cards on your desk. Put students in groups and have one student bring a copy of each station card back to their group. The student will then return each card and pick up the next one.
