Description
Hands-on transformations activity using rubber bands! This easy prep transformations exploration activity will guide students through discovering the coordinate rules for dilating a figure on the coordinate plane!
Students will use two linked rubber bands to investigate the effects of dilating a figure on its coordinates, as shown in the thumbnail image above. They will create their own image to dilate and also dilate a triangle on the coordinate plane.
Includes practice questions to that require them to dilate a figure by listing the new coordinates, graphing the points, and classifying the image as an enlargement or reduction. They will also be asked to identify the scale factor of a dilated image.
You will need two 2.5 to 3.5 inch rubber bands for each student to complete this activity.
