Description
Includes four hands-on geometric transformations activities for exploring translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations, plus a reference sheet!
Students will use tracing paper to explore translations, reflections, and rotations. Rubber bands are used to explore dilations. Students will discover coordinate rules for each of the transformations and answer follow-up questions using the information they’ve discovered.
Included Transformations:
- Translations: Up, down, right, left, and combinations of translations
- Reflections: Over the x-axis, and over the y-axis
- Rotations: 90 degrees clockwise, 90 degrees counterclockwise, and 180 degrees
- Dilations: Enlargements and reductions
Also includes a one page reference sheet for students to record their newly discovered coordinate rules after each activity. Reference sheet is ‘fill in the blank,’ but a fully completed reference sheet is also provided for students who require completed notes.
To complete all 4 activities, you’ll need 5 small squares of tracing paper per student and two rubber bands per student. Tissue, wax, parchment, and tracing paper all work well.
