Description
This easy-prep personal finance lesson will provide students with the real-world math and financial literacy skills needed to understand the information on a W-2 Tax Form, including common paycheck deductions.
*Updated in 2025* This lesson uses up-to-date W-2s and current tax information.
This lesson teaches the purpose of W-2s and the information they provide. Students will fill out their notes as you walk them through the Google Slides presentation, then they’ll complete a 10-question worksheet using a sample W-2. An additional practice worksheet and answer key are included.
Students will learn about the following information given on a W-2:
- Employer and Employee information
- Employee wages and compensation
- Federal income tax withheld
- Social Security tax withheld
- Medicare tax withheld
- State/Local income tax withheld
- Other employee benefits
