Description
Teach students about investing and the stock market as they track the price of a stock over five, seven, or ten days. This easy-prep personal finance activity helps foster real-world math skills and can be incorporated into any investing or stock market unit.
Students will choose one stock and record its price each day over a five, seven, or ten-day period. They will calculate the change in price and the percent increase or decrease each day and plot the price on a graph. At the end of the tracking period, they will calculate the overall profit or loss and rate of return on their investment.
They’ll also complete a short reflection that asks them to evaluate the impact of recent news events on the price of their stock.
This resource includes:
- 3 Versions of the student worksheet (one each for five, seven, or ten days of stock tracking).
- A sample answer key – All student answers will differ depending on their stock. However, the sample answer key can serve as an example for students if needed.
