Description

Perfect slope intercept form Christmas math or winter math activity that can also be used as classroom decor! Designs require students to write and graph equations of lines given two points, a point and a slope, etc.

Includes 8 Blank Coordinate Plane Ornaments and 8 Ornament Designs that can be mixed and matched for 64 possible ornaments.

Students will choose one blank coordinate plane ornament and one set of design instructions. Each set of design instructions can be used with any of the 8 blank coordinate plane ornaments. The design instructions will direct students to write 5 or 6 linear equations in slope intercept form to create a design for their ornament. Students will then cut and color their ornament.

Answer Key with all 8 designs is provided.

To complete this activity, students should know how to write the equation of a line in slope intercept form when given:

• A slope and y-intercept
• A slope and a point
• An equation in standard form
• Two points

Horizontal and vertical lines are also included.

Classroom Decor Ideas:

• A hole can be punched through the loop at the top of the ornament so they can be hung from the ceiling.
• Create a large tree using green butcher paper so that students can ‘hang’ their ornaments on the tree when finished.
• Hang ornaments on a bulletin board for hallway decor.
